How Literature shaped me ?

vHow Literature Shaped me?

The question is How Literature Shaped me? And I want to clarify my self very honestly here through giving the answer of this question. First of all I have a question What is Literature?

When I was studied in BA, our professor asked us What is Literature? Though we studied basic about the literature in the school time, some gave the answer that Literature is the Mirror of Society, some told that Broken Mirror of Society.  But I didn’t have any definition about the Literature. Even I didn’t know what was literature though I studied in the School time. I was silent on that day when our Professor asked what is literature?

The another fact is I never learnt What is Literature on those days. I studied so many Texts and many poems in BA. I always got rank in BA but I never learnt the moral of any text. I just mug up the facts and score more. So I can not connect any text with my personal life which were studied by me in BA.

After BA I got the admission in B.Ed. and realize that the text which are in the syllabus is not for mug up but we should connect it with our life and I got this idea at the end of the B.Ed.

Then I got admission in MA. Then I started to learn the texts and apply all the theories in my personal life which were learnt by me in the classroom. And the new thing is I am curious to know about the different theories and want to apply in my personal life. And I score more without mug up the facts because in MA examination I could justify the questions with my understanding and I could give the arguments against the topics.
Now I want to say what I learnt in MA? There are so many texts and also very lengthy texts in MA.

I studied Paradise Lost by John Milton

I most like the character of Eve in The Paradise Lost because she is ready to eat the fruit of knowledge. She already knew what the result is after eating the fruit. But she doesn’t care about all the things and eat the fruit. Now I can say that what I learnt from The Paradise lost is ….

                   કંઈક પામવા કંઈક ખોવું પડે

Always thirst for knowledge.

The another text is “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelly.

I learnt from this text is

                   સંતોશી નર સદા સુખી

          અતિ સર્વત્ર વર્જ્યતે

          ખોદે એ પડે

The another text is “Oliver Twist” by “Charles Dickens”.

I most like the sentence which is spoke by Oliver “Sir, I want some more”. We can interpret it with many different ways. We can analyze the sentence like: Oliver wants some more knowledge. He is thirst for knowledge. So I learnt from this text is always be ready for some more.

I like Robert Frost’s poems. I learnt from Robert Frost to be lived with nature. And most like Derrida’s theory of Deconstruction. Now a days, I am deconstructing every matters. I raised questions in every matters and try to reconstruct the things. Derrida changed the perspective of my life.

From “Waiting For Godot” by Samuel Backett, I found hope and desire. But I learnt that don’t believe in hope and desire but believe in Karma and believe in own self.

                  આશા સદા નિરાશા

The novel “The Da Vinci Code” by Dan Brown is very mysterious and very Interesting.

I learnt from this text is how to be secret keeper. And also learnt that don’t believe or follow anyone blindly.

The novel Harry Potter by J.K.Rowling , I learnt from this text is be ready for every situation.

Harry, Ron,and Harmione are children but they always faced problems and also solved all the problems.

                 “Readyness is All”

The Novel “The Sense of an Ending” by Julian Barnes, I learnt the positive thing is Suicide is also a beautiful art.

When we want to die, we can. But the most important thing is that put a suicide not for an educational perspective. And suicide should have a philosophical reason.

                  “Suicide is an Art”

now, looking after all these things, I got my answer that how literature shaped me?  Still I can not give any particular definition for literature because I believe that literature is everything which is occurred around us. Literature is an Ocean and now I am drowning in this literature Ocean.

The another thing which I learnt is don’t trust to anyone. Only believe in Karma.

             ખેડ, ખાત્રી ને ખંજવાળ હંમેશા જાતે જ કરવી

This is my understanding of literature what I learnt in the precious journey of two years. I learnt from my professor of MA…

“Everyone should have got another chance”

I felt it personally when I was late to get my admission in MA. The process of admission was over and I went to sir and asked him about the admission and he asked me did you really want to study the literature? And I replied yes. Then he tried to give admission to me and after many process and struggle of the professor, I got admission. And also got a proper understanding of literature and I can understand the literature.

After understand the literature, I can go in depth in my own self. Now I know who am I ? How am I? I can accept my reality after know the literature and started to think rationally.
